GEEK TYRANT’S TOP WONDER WOMAN COSPLAYS OF 2014

It always nice to get recognition when you do something kick ass!  Really honored to be thought of as one of the top Wonder Woman cosplayers by Geek Tyrant!  I didn’t make this, Rainfall Films fantastic costumer Heather Greene did, but I do take pride in wearing such a well executed and thought out costume.  Especially since this costume represents so much of what makes Wonder Woman an icon.

Check out the article and the other cosplayers that made the list here: http://geektyrant.com/news/wonder-woman-best-of-cosplay-collection

SO MUCH LOVE! THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH!

Just wanted to take a sec to thank all you guys out there for being so supportive of our Wonder Woman project!  It’s been such a surreal and awesome experience.  I had hoped it would do well, but I never expected it to blow up the way it did.  4 million views in just a week…it’s kinda crazy pants!!  We’ve heard through the grapevine that the peeps over at Warner Bros. and DC have seen it and love it!  That still doesn’t mean that all of a sudden they are going to stop what they’re doing and hire our team to make a movie or television series, but at least they took notice and are really excited about the direction we took the character and franchise in.  I love this character and I so hope that I get to play her again!  Below are a couple of links to interviews and press about the project:)

xoxo,

Ri

One of the neatest things was seeing the short trend all over the internet.  Not only were we front and center on youtube for a couple of days but we were the number one trending topic on Yahoo, Google, and Google +!

WONDER WOMAN ON GOOD MORNING AMERICA!

Um, so weird and incredible waking up to this!  Yay!!!!

WONDER WOMAN!!

As most of you know, I recently got to work on an epic Wonder Woman project with Rainfall Films!  If any of you are a nerd like me, you know all the controversy surrounding this character and why Hollywood hasn’t made a decent movie or TV show.  Joss Whedon tried to make it work, but the studios weren’t having it.  Then there was that awful David E. Kelly pilot, where Diana sat around, ate ice cream and cried the entire time.  Did I mention the utterly terrible costume?  Yeah, I’m pretty sure you can find a replica in a stripper store on Hollywood Blvd.  Now, we hear rumors that there’s a new script for the CW, AMAZON that execs have shelved for the time being to focus on The Flash…seriously, The Flash?!  Not that I have anything against Barry Allen is his fantastic red spandex suit, but why can’t we figure out how to make Wonder Woman work??  That’s the question that Rainfall Films has set out to answer with this short concept piece created to get Hollywood thinking differently about this iconic character.

Luckily for me, they were so kind and generous to offer me the part of Diana in this web project! Seriously guys, I can’t begin to tell you what a dream come true this was for me.  As a geek, as well as an actor, this role is the kind  you can only hope for.  No, it’s not on network T.V. and It’s not a major motion picture, It’s just a small labor of love by fans done on a minuscule budget, but I can honestly say that it has been one of the best experiences I’ve ever had working in this industry.  I mean how many people can actually say that they get to portray a superhero for awhile?? ZOMG!

I felt it was really important to depict Diana as accurately as possible…well, as accurately as we imagine her to be anyway:)  For the ten weeks leading up to the shoot, all I did was train and diet.  I even blogged about the process, which some of you actually followed!  Hopefully, I helped a couple of you to reach your fitness goals as well.  I’m a fairly in shape person, but I felt like I lacked the “amazonian” presence that Wonder Woman is supposed to have so I sought out to put some muscle on.  I wish I had had a couple more months to really define the look, but I must say I was pretty pleased with the results overall with the time I had.  Also, got to do all my own stunts which was so much fun!!  Our stunt coordinator, Surawit Sae Kang and his guys did an outstanding job making me look like I could kick some ass!  Definitely one of the highlights of being an actor for me is kicking ass on screen and looking good doing it, haha!

Another thing that was really important for me in doing this role, was that the costume was correct.  In the case of Wonder Woman, I feel like the costume is just as iconic as the character.  You can’t have one without the other as we’ve seen in other incarnations of this hero.  Sure, the spandex bodysuit works well in the comics, but how does that translate to live action?  Well, it really doesn’t.  So, Heather Greene our wonderfully talented costume designer designed a functional costume that still kept true to the feel of it’s predecessors.  Not only did she create an updated realistic version of the costume, but she kept in mind the balance between Diana in Themyscira and Wonder Woman in our world.  I may be bias, but I really feel like this is probably the best costume I’ve ever seen for Wonder Woman, and I am so humbled and proud that I get to wear it!!!!!!!  I think back to my final fitting before the shoot, where I put on the full costume for the first time, and seeing myself in it, actually made me tear up a bit!  Haha!  I don’t even think I teared up when I found my wedding dress!  It was just such an emotional experience for me, as a fan to see this costume come to life and be the most perfect version of it possible.  I can only describe it as a very out-of-body experience:)

photoThis entire process has been so surreal for me.  I watch this as a fan and sometimes forget that it’s me that I’m watching…I just geek out and have to remind myself that i’m actually in the costume.  SO FREAKIN’ COOL!  I have to thank our director Sam Balcomb for putting all his resources and his faith behind doing this.  He’s an avid Wonder Woman fan and has done such an amazing job with every detail in trying to give us all a feel for what a live action Wonder Woman movie or television show could look like.  Also, a big thank you to all you fans out there who have gotten behind the stills and pictures that we’ve been posting since San Diego Comic Con.  The response has been so positive, and we’re delighted that for the most part, you guys are really excited to see what our version of Wonder Woman is!  I really hope you guys like this project as much as I do!!

Again, I just want to say that this is a CONCEPT piece.  It’s not a film with a thru narrative.  That may be disappointing for some of you, but for being a self funded project, there’s only so much Rainfall could do and still give you this quality.  So no tears or geek angst, kay?? 🙂 FOR A BETTER VIEWING EXPERIENCE PLEASE WATCH IT FULL SCREEN AND FULL RESOLUTION.  It’s even more amazeballz, trust me;)
