I’m so happy to finally be able to announce the cast to Team Unicorn’s new pilot with Adult Swim! What’s even more exciting is that we’ve cast our forth unicorn, the amazing Alison Haislip! She’s a breath of fresh air and we are so excited to have her.
Production is underway on the Team Unicorn Saturday Action Fun Hour! pilot forAdult Swim. Penned by Dan Milano (Greg The Bunny) and inspired by the Team Unicorn cartoons, the pilot is described as a modern twist on Saturday morning-style cartoon/live-action hybrid shows, but for adults. It follows the adventures of the four mythical heroines who masquerade as human girls. Danger Maiden Prods’ Clare Grant and Rileah Vanderbilt executive produce and star alongside original Team Unicorn member Milynn Sarley (How I Met Your Mother) and Alison Haislip (Attack Of The Show) as both Team Unicorn and their cartoon counterparts. Jane Lynch (Glee, Hollywood Game Night) voices the villainous Dark Puba; Alan Tudyk (Suburgatory) voices her sidekick, Chummy Cherub; Tara Strong (The Fairly OddParents) voices Billy, the boy with the ability to summon Team Unicorn; and Kevin Shinick (Mad) is the show’s announcer. Robot Chicken creators Seth Greenand Matthew Senreich serve as executive producers for Stoopid Buddy Stoodios. Green is directing the pilot.
Danger Maiden Productions was formed in 2009 when Grant and Vanderbilt wrote/produced and starred in the viral video Saber, which won Best Action and the Audience Awards at the Lucasfilm Fan Awards. Recently they completed the trilogy, which has racked up more than 7 million views collectively. Team Unicorn first was introduced to geek and female empowerment fans in 2010 via G33K & G4M3R Girls, written and produced by its original members. The viral-video sensation captured a million views in its first week as a geek-centric parody of Katy Perry’s “California Gurls” music video. Other Team Unicorn videos include Alien Beach Crashers, SuperHarmony, A Very Zombie Holiday and For The Win.
As most of you know, I recently got to work on an epic Wonder Woman project with Rainfall Films! If any of you are a nerd like me, you know all the controversy surrounding this character and why Hollywood hasn’t made a decent movie or TV show. Joss Whedon tried to make it work, but the studios weren’t having it. Then there was that awful David E. Kelly pilot, where Diana sat around, ate ice cream and cried the entire time. Did I mention the utterly terrible costume? Yeah, I’m pretty sure you can find a replica in a stripper store on Hollywood Blvd. Now, we hear rumors that there’s a new script for the CW, AMAZON that execs have shelved for the time being to focus on The Flash…seriously, The Flash?! Not that I have anything against Barry Allen is his fantastic red spandex suit, but why can’t we figure out how to make Wonder Woman work?? That’s the question that Rainfall Films has set out to answer with this short concept piece created to get Hollywood thinking differently about this iconic character.
Luckily for me, they were so kind and generous to offer me the part of Diana in this web project! Seriously guys, I can’t begin to tell you what a dream come true this was for me. As a geek, as well as an actor, this role is the kind you can only hope for. No, it’s not on network T.V. and It’s not a major motion picture, It’s just a small labor of love by fans done on a minuscule budget, but I can honestly say that it has been one of the best experiences I’ve ever had working in this industry. I mean how many people can actually say that they get to portray a superhero for awhile?? ZOMG!
I felt it was really important to depict Diana as accurately as possible…well, as accurately as we imagine her to be anyway:) For the ten weeks leading up to the shoot, all I did was train and diet. I even blogged about the process, which some of you actually followed! Hopefully, I helped a couple of you to reach your fitness goals as well. I’m a fairly in shape person, but I felt like I lacked the “amazonian” presence that Wonder Woman is supposed to have so I sought out to put some muscle on. I wish I had had a couple more months to really define the look, but I must say I was pretty pleased with the results overall with the time I had. Also, got to do all my own stunts which was so much fun!! Our stunt coordinator, Surawit Sae Kang and his guys did an outstanding job making me look like I could kick some ass! Definitely one of the highlights of being an actor for me is kicking ass on screen and looking good doing it, haha!
Another thing that was really important for me in doing this role, was that the costume was correct. In the case of Wonder Woman, I feel like the costume is just as iconic as the character. You can’t have one without the other as we’ve seen in other incarnations of this hero. Sure, the spandex bodysuit works well in the comics, but how does that translate to live action? Well, it really doesn’t. So, Heather Greene our wonderfully talented costume designer designed a functional costume that still kept true to the feel of it’s predecessors. Not only did she create an updated realistic version of the costume, but she kept in mind the balance between Diana in Themyscira and Wonder Woman in our world. I may be bias, but I really feel like this is probably the best costume I’ve ever seen for Wonder Woman, and I am so humbled and proud that I get to wear it!!!!!!! I think back to my final fitting before the shoot, where I put on the full costume for the first time, and seeing myself in it, actually made me tear up a bit! Haha! I don’t even think I teared up when I found my wedding dress! It was just such an emotional experience for me, as a fan to see this costume come to life and be the most perfect version of it possible. I can only describe it as a very out-of-body experience:)
This entire process has been so surreal for me. I watch this as a fan and sometimes forget that it’s me that I’m watching…I just geek out and have to remind myself that i’m actually in the costume. SO FREAKIN’ COOL! I have to thank our director Sam Balcomb for putting all his resources and his faith behind doing this. He’s an avid Wonder Woman fan and has done such an amazing job with every detail in trying to give us all a feel for what a live action Wonder Woman movie or television show could look like. Also, a big thank you to all you fans out there who have gotten behind the stills and pictures that we’ve been posting since San Diego Comic Con. The response has been so positive, and we’re delighted that for the most part, you guys are really excited to see what our version of Wonder Woman is! I really hope you guys like this project as much as I do!!
Again, I just want to say that this is a CONCEPT piece. It’s not a film with a thru narrative. That may be disappointing for some of you, but for being a self funded project, there’s only so much Rainfall could do and still give you this quality. So no tears or geek angst, kay?? 🙂 FOR A BETTER VIEWING EXPERIENCE PLEASE WATCH IT FULL SCREEN AND FULL RESOLUTION. It’s even more amazeballz, trust me;)

So after a year of waiting, HATCHET 3 is about to be released in theaters! Today they released the red band trailer and it looks freaking amazing! See it below in the original EW write up:)
Few recent filmmakers have more enthusiastically, or more bloodily, embraced the mantle of horror director than Adam Green whose Hatchet franchise details the gore-drenched ways of swamp-dwelling maniac Victor Crowley. Indeed, 2010′s unrated Hatchet II made headlines when the AMC cinema chain pulled the movie from screens after just a couple of days.
Has that brouhaha prompted the filmmaker to tone down the mayhem featured in his slasher saga? Apparently not, judging by the new, extremely violent, and detached body part-featuring trailer for the also unrated Hatchet III, which was penned by Green and directed by BJ McDonnell.
Hatchet III stars Kane Hodder, Danielle Harris, and Zach Galligan and is theatrically released June 14. But you can exclusively see the new trailer below — we would suggest you not do so while eating lunch.
Give a Unicorn Jameson, and what does she become?? A tipsy Unicorn! I joined my fellow Teammates to celebrate Table Top Day by playing Cards Against Humanity…the most disturbing despicable game you can probably play:) Got to thank Felicia Day and Wil Wheaton for starting this awesome holiday! Watch the tom foolery below!
